Margaret Bakelaar
Margaret Bakelaar is a PhD student with the School of Planning. Her MSc. was from the University of Guelph School of Rural Planning and Development and BSc., also from University of Guelph, was in resources management and ecology. She is a registered professional planner and has worked in the field of land, resource and environmental planning for a couple of decades, including: working with federal, provincial, local and First Nations governments; Universities and College; consultants; and NGOs. She has recently moved to Ontario from the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. Her love for learning has brought her back to school.
Margaret is interested in research on planning for ecosystem connectivity to improve resilience and ecosystem services. Her research is intended to look at collaborative governance structures; private land stewardship; and spatial identification of social-ecological networks. |
