Chris DeGeer
Christopher DeGeer completed a bachelor’s degree at Trent University in environment and resource studies before obtaining a master’s degree from the University of Waterloo in spatial planning. During his master’s degree, Chris used methods of public participation to identify cultural heritage landscapes in two northern townships in the Region of Waterloo. He is now completing a sister study to his master’s work through the Heritage Resource Centre at the University of Waterloo, while also working on a PhD.
Chris’ PhD research examines the extent and implications of privately protected areas. Chris is curious about how protected areas impact local flora and fauna, how they impact local peoples, and how they might be imagined, identified, and executed in a socially and ecologically balanced way. |
